Project Introduction

At Narara Ecovillage, we’re just weeks from handing over a beautiful new two-bedroom home – a project we helped shape as consultants around nine months before breaking ground. It isn’t a certified passive house, but we’ve built it tight and comfortable: wrapped in a Pro Clima membrane with a blower-door result just above 0.4, fitted with gorgeous Australian-made Miglas windows (aluminium outside, warm timber within), and ventilated by a Renson heat-recovery system that keeps fresh air moving and the whole home comfortable on a single air-conditioning unit.

The soul of the interior is timber – recycled Tasmanian Oak running through the doors, joinery and window frames, a Polytec Tasmanian Oak kitchen designed by Pair Studio and installed by Vogue, and even a recycled hardwood front door. Add a playful theme of curves – circular windows and a large oblong archway – a grey-and-green bathroom, and a richly textured facade of mixed cladding profiles, and it’s a warm, considered home that’s tracking beautifully toward completion.
